Looking for a relatively inexpensive way to add charisma to a room?
With the cooler months approaching, now is the perfect time to think about giving that tired old fireplace a facelift and at the same time enrich your entertaining area.
The time for those exposed bricks framing your fireplace, with their rough old finish, is long past. But before you go at the bricks with a paint roller, why not consider a feature tile?
Encaustic cement tiles whether muted, monochrome or vivid in colour make a fabulous statement and amazing effects can be achieved by tiling part or all of the external face of the chimney rather than just the floor area. Tiling a fireplace surround is an elegant upgrade well worth the effort. In a few days, you can create an eye-catching feature in the heart of your home.
A flawless fireplace surround starts with a well thought out design and ends with attention to detail during installation. Regardless of which pattern you choose, you’ll save a lot of time (and heartache) by making a template of your surround so that you can lay out a pattern on the floor, space the tiles appropriately, and choose a starting position before committing to the fireplace itself. Depending on the tile design you choose, it may be as simple as centering the starting position, or a little more complicated spacing the decorative tiles in the middle of the field and working out from there.
Encaustic cement tiles are suitable for the fireplace surround, the mantel and the hearth but not the firebox itself. You can choose to install tiles all the way to the ceiling for extra impact or they can be used more sparingly and capped by the mantle. Either way our decorative encaustic cement tiles will create a striking feature.
