What are Cement Tiles?
These beautiful tiles are referred to by many names, including Encaustic Tile, Encaustic Cement Tile, Hydraulic Tile, Cuban Tile, Moroccan Tile, Spanish Tile, Portuguese Tile, and many more…we simply go by the traditional name of Cement Tile.
Cement Tiles do not use clay, are not glazed nor fired like ceramics. They are hydraulically pressed and cure naturally with time. Three layers form the tile, using a combination of cement, sand and marble dust and natural mineral pigments sourced from around the world. They are made the same way today as they were since the 1800’s by skilled artisans who have passed on their trade through generations. Each tile is made individually, where the utmost care and exceptional attention to detail is provided to every tile produced for Rever Tiles.
Distinct because of their use of inlaid pigment (rather than a painted surface), Cement Tiles have had a long and illustrious history since the mid-nineteenth century. With a long-lasting, durable surface, Cement Tiles are a wonderful way to impart both pattern and colour to any space.
The tradition of the tile is to create an interlocking design that comes to life across four tiles when each of the tiles are rotated 90 degrees. A reverse pattern is also created which is what makes these tiles so alluring.
The surface of the tile is muted, matte and silky by touch, Each one ever so slightly different to the next. The variegated colours only enhance the beauty of the tile, this along with a myriad of designs, make them one of today’s most sought-after tile.

Design
Cement tiles have been popular for over 150 years and for good reason—they are one of the most beautiful tiles available on the market and they have stood the test of time.

Environmentally friendly
They are made from natural materials and are manufactured using immense pressure, not heat. They will never fade as the coloured pigments are embedded deep into the tile.

Huge range of patterns
Cement Tiles come in a huge range of patterns, from simple to complex with many combinations available so you can create the look you are after.

Easy to install
Installation method differs very little to ceramic tiles. Professional tilers and builders can install cement tiles relatively quickly, so you get your beautiful project finished in good time.

Hardwearing
Cement tiles are a great choice for high traffic areas, being both hard wearing, easy to clean and resistant to scratches, cracks, chips and stains. With ongoing easy care your tiles will look as good as the day they were laid.

Perfect for any room
Cement Tiles can be used throughout the whole house, but they really outshine other materials in bathrooms, kitchens, alfresco areas and of course in commercial applications.
